It seems naysayers have struck a nerve by questioning whether or not Zachary Levi’s ‘Shazam!’ muscles are real or “Hollywood magic.” After set photos from Warner Brothers’ upcoming DC Comics movie leaked online in February, fans began scrutinizing the pics of Levi in his super suit, wondering whether the former ‘Chuck‘ actor had actually packed on a ton of muscle for the role, or if like so many other cinematic superheroes like the various Batmen, he was wearing padded “armor” for enhancement. Levi issued a sarcastic response via social media, which, unfortunately due to its snarky tone, made it hard to ascertain his real intent.
Now it appears that Levi is doubling down. He took to Instagram to share a photo, minus the red costume, which will hopefully lay any skepticism to rest. As usual though, Levi kept his snarky attitude intact with the caption: “It’s like the old saying goes, ‘Hard work, over time, plus chicken & broccoli, minus carbs, divided by whey protein, in which “X” represents the amount of supplements and “Y” represents the sentiment of “WHY the hell am I doing this to myself?!”, multiplied by shameless selfies whilst staring into nowhere…carryyy theee ooone…equals results.”
Levi has also had to defend the suit itself against some haters, although in my opinion, that is unnecessary because the movie costume looks like it was ripped right from the pages of DC Comics. In fact it’s even more comic accurate than those of ANY of the previous DC heroes and even a lot of the Marvel live action characters.
And speaking of that, oddly over in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have been questioning whether Tom Holland‘s Iron Spider costume from ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ has been altered to make it less bulky in a certain sensitive area.
What do you think? Does Zachary Levi’s latest photo convince you that his ‘Shazam!’ costume is not padded?
