In the second half of the currently running fifth season, it’s been announced that Craig Parker (‘Lord of the Rings’,’Underworld: Rise of the Lycans’) will appear as a character who will be at odds with Marvel’s ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘. Parker is known for his villainous role on ‘Legend of the Seeker’ and will be playing an alien on the series.
Parker’s character is named Taryan and is being described as “a formidable wheeler-dealer from another planet.” It isn’t clear if we’re going to see Taryan as a Kree or a yet to be introduced alien species when his character debuts. We all know there are enough alien species for the show to pick from!
That being said, we’ve recently seen that active Kree beacon in the episode of “All the Comforts of Home” so it wouldn’t be surprising he ended up being the Kree character that answers it or if it will be someone else who detects it was going off. I suspect that it will be more of a chance that an alien race comes from this than any other time traveling shenanigans. More aliens could be fun if done right but with everything happening currently to try and stop the end of the world as well as dealing with Coulson’s impending death, I just hope this doesn’t feel shoehorned in.
Hopefully, this doesn’t prove to be the final season as I’m not sure ending on aliens would be the right way to say goodbye to the series.
