Kathy Bates

‘American Horror Story’ has brought back two amazing actresses since it was created and while Jessica Lange hasn’t returned, we do know that Kathy Bates will be coming back for Season 8! There isn’t much to know about her role as of yet, though she will be one of the three announced leads in the series. Not only that, but a trademark registration hints that the upcoming season will be titled “Radioactive” which Murphy has commented on!

First up, for the eighth season the director shared:

“Kathy and Sarah Paulson have a lot of great stuff to get to do. So, with Evan Peters, the three of them are the leads this year.”

Three of the fan-favorites and undoubtedly Murphy’s favorites will be front and center in the next chapter of everyone’s favorite anthology horror series! While reviews were mixed with ‘American Horror Story: Cult’ we can all hope that they’ve recaptured the magic and audience attention in this outing. With Netflix not bringing ‘Disjointed’ back for a second season it, fortunately for us at least, put a hole in Bates’ schedule that ‘American Horror Story’ was only too happy to fill!

As to the title of the upcoming eighth season being “Radioactive”? Murphy took a moment to weigh in on that as well:

“I heard about that rumor. Well, that’s based on a fact that we’ve cleared a lot of titles for that show. It’s an interesting idea. I can neither confirm nor deny.”

Thanks for the non-answer, Ryan. We wouldn’t expect anything less from a director who usually likes to keep his stories shrouded in secrecy. There are so many ways he could take that title, it would almost be just as uninformative if he did tell us that was what they had decided upon.

Are you excited that Kathy Bates will be returning to ‘American Horror Story’? Will she be playing a villain or someone who we root for in this next outing? Share your thoughts below!
