We’ve seen Ryan Murphy‘s ‘American Horror Story’ run the gambit so far on various plotlines but now FX’s iconic horror story is primed for something that could be straight out of the news as things are getting radioactive. In January, Murphy mentioned that the next season would take place in the future which could set the stage for all kinds of fun dystopian or postapocalyptic premises.
Now, we’ve learned that Twentieth Century Fox has registered a trademark filing for ‘American Horror Story: Radioactive’ and while this doesn’t guarantee it will be the title of the eighth season it feels like a safe bet to be the case. A future setting and something radioactive? It sure sounds like the apocalypse if you ask me!
If you factor in the political commentary in ‘American Horror Story: Cult’ and how the leaders of two nations have been throwing around the idea of nuclear war, it seems like a likely guess as to one direction the show could go. With how much some of Trump’s ideas factored into the seventh season, a potential downside to his actual actions could factor into Season 8 if Murphy planned to continue this political discourse.
That being said, Murphy usually is a bit better with surprises. This could easily be about something else radioactive or a return of the aliens from ‘American Horror Story: Asylum.’ The biggest question is what could that mean for Sarah Paulson having to wear “dental appliances” in the upcoming season.
Fans will have to wait until this Fall to find out, but the possibilities are endless. Who knows, maybe we’ll see what happens when one of the cast members get bitten by a radioactive spider. We haven’t seen Murphy tackle the idea of superheroes, or villains, quite yet.
