Avengers: Infinity War Bucky Barnes

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains potential SPOILERS for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ so proceed with caution.

As the Marvel Superheroes prepare for the biggest conflict they’ve ever faced in ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ more and more information about the film is coming to light.  Since the last we saw of Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (played by Sebastian Stan), he was being dropped off in a stasis pod and concealed in the mysterious jungle nation of Wakanda, it wasn’t much of a surprise when he returned in a brief post-credits cameo at the end of ‘Black Panther’.  It appears that thanks to Shuri (Letitia Wright)’s technological expertise, he is now free of his Russian spy programming.  Unfortunately, he’s also missing his cybernetic arm.  We already know that he gets a new one, thanks to Shuri and the Wakandans, but it appears that now that he has also shaken the brainwashing, he’ll be getting something else that’s new– a code name.

What’s interesting is the new code name is not from the comic book.  It appears the Wakandans have taken to calling Bucky… the White Wolf.

Huh.  Okay.  I mean it’s fine.  I guess I understand wanting to ditch the Winter Soldier name.  I don’t hate White Wolf, but it doesn’t excite me.

But Stan stands by Marvel Studios, so maybe we should too.  Here’s what he recently said:

“I don’t worry about the character.  No matter what they decide, they’re going to do the right thing … I have ownership over the character, but it’s not up to me to decide what happens. But you know, those guys are going to take it to another level. That’s just what they are going to do. And it’s a culmination of so many things up until this point, which is why they can.”

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ opens on April 27.
