Being blunt about it, Funko is probably one of the biggest names in toys when it comes to producing hot new collectibles for the mass market that everyone can enjoy! This year at New York Toy Fair 2018 they announced over 170 new items to be released sometime in the next year or so, and we were lucky enough to check a number of them out!

There were literally dozens of cool new items to check out on display at the Funko Booth this year. They announced products for a huge assortment of new intellectual properties like ‘Pee Wee’s Playhouse’, ‘Ready Player One’, ‘The Princess Bride’, ‘Gossip Girl’, ‘Disneys Hercules’, ‘Smallville’, ‘Austin Powers’, and so many more! Plus several of their already running lines saw new additions announced like ‘Strangers Things’, ‘Nicktoons’, ‘Deadpool’, ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Rick & Morty’ for starters!

Funko Social Content Strategy Manager Cameron Deuel was asked what he thought the coolest thing they had on display for Toy Fair this year:

I’m going to take the easy way out and just say I feel that we promoted the idea that we’re unpredictable, and that we’ll make things from popular culture that we admire and hope that others do too! I think that unpredictability really lends itself well to the POP! format but also in so many of the new lines we have coming out! It really ties things together. If I had to pick one thing though? Probably Stefon from ‘Saturday Night Live’!

With a whole line of ‘Saturday Night Live’ POP! Vinyls coming our way this year, it’s easy to see why he would be excited!

Regarding some of their major master licenses and upcoming products to be excited about, Cameron continued “We have a lot to be excited about with so many of our master licenses like ‘Rick and Morty’, ‘Five Nights At Freddys’ and ‘Trollhunters’! We have a lot of ‘Ready Player One’ stuff, and for a lot of classic movies that we probably should have done already like ‘Grease’ and ‘Jurassic Park’! And we just announced ‘Jurassic World’!”

One of the biggest announcements from the show floor was the reveal of a previously untitled line that was now dubbed ‘Savage World’! In an odd turn of events, the first wave of “Savage World’ figures, which is based on the classic ‘Mortal Kombat’ video game series, is already on shelves now! Giving us a bit more detail on the new line, Cameron said:

The ‘Savage World’ is a new line that’s for anyone who ever collected the old ‘Masters Of The Universe’ figures in the 80’s! ‘Savage World’ is for you! We’ve got ‘Thundercats’ coming out, ‘Conan The Barbarian’, Horror characters, they’re all coming soon, and ‘Mortal Kombat’ is already out now! The idea is that we are taking brands that people want… like everyone wanted ‘Thundercats’ in that line, and now I’m seeing people make a beeline to it in our booth and saying things like “thats what I wanted thirty years ago”, and it’s coming! And we’re going to build it out beyond that. We’re putting a lot of effort behind this line. We haven’t really made a lot of noise about it on social media just yet, but we once we really have the full scope of the next waves we have coming, and we’re going to be putting a lot of efforts behind it. If you like what you see now, you’ll love what we’ve got coming down the pipe!

It’s safe to say Funko has a pretty healthy idea of what fans want from them, and are more than willing to work their butts off to make sure they bring exactly that to the table with all of their new offerings!
