Hannah Waddingham

The cast of Syfy’s ‘Krypton‘ keeps expanding like an exploding sun and the latest addition is Hannah Waddingham (‘How to Lose Friends & Alienate People’,’Les Misérables’)! While Waddingham previously has experience with the network having portrayed Magdalena on ’12 Monkeys’ last year she is likely best known for her work as the bell-ringing Septa Unella who brought shame on ‘Game of Thrones’. On the new series, she is scheduled to portray Jax-Ur.

As to who Jax-Ur is? According to details provided by the studio:

Formerly one of Krypton’s greatest scientists with deep ties to Krypton’s past,
Jax-Ur is now determined to bring radical change to Krypton as leader of the
underground terrorist organization, Black Zero.

Jax-urGenerally, Jax-Ur has been a male in previous incarnations. In the comics, we do know that the character ended up being imprisoned in the Phantom Zone in most instances for destroying an inhabited moon which orbits Krypton by testing a newly developed weapon on it.

Typically the character has always made a play to take over Krypton which looks to be the case here as well. As the series is said to be plotted our for a seven to eight-year run, it will be interesting to see if they developer her over time or if she ends up trapped in the Phantom Zone by the end of the first season.

I’m more curious as to if we’ll see the character interact with General Zod at all during the course of the series. The character has tended to be associated with Zod due to their Kryptonian heritage and being villains but generally, that is after they’ve both spent time in the Phantom Zone together.

Are you excited to see Hannah Waddingham shaking things up in the world of ‘Krypton’? Do you feel that Jax-Ur will be a long-term villain for the show or one that is imprisoned sooner than later? Share your thoughts below!
