James Gunn Shares What Those Birds Were In 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2'

With how popular the Porgs from ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ has been, it seems that James Gunn didn’t want you to forget the cute little critters from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘ and has shared their name! While it doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as smoothly as Porg does, these bird-like creatures are officially known as Vyloos!

You can check out where Gunn shared the details in the Instagram post below:

With Disney owning both Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios it seems like only a matter of time before the company should make the ultimate unofficial crossover between these two universes with an animated Porgs and Vyloos feature.

What isn’t clear precisely though is if Vyloos is the official name of the species or if a singular one would just be a Vyloo. With alien languages, anything is game! Gunn always seems open to talking to fans to clarify the fun small details he puts into his work so this is a mystery which still might end up being solved.

While it is unclear if we’ll ever see the Vyloos on the big screen again, Gunn did share at least one place which they’ll be making an appearance! If you end up visiting The Collector’s Fortress at Disney California Adventure Park then you’ll have a chance to see some of these critters on display! They do come with a warning though as “They may look adorable, but beware! These little birds have been known to defend themselves when threatened, so the Tivan Group has assured us that they will be kept fully enclosed in their glass display case at all times. As long as the fortress power source remains operational, they will be safely contained.”

Are you relieved to finally know the name of the mysterious Vyloo? Do you believe that we’ll see one of these creatures show up in the background in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘? Which species is cuter – the Vyloos or Porgs? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
