Krysten Ritter Jessica Jones

There is a lot of excitement about this year’s slate of Marvel/ Netflix shows, none more-so than for ‘Jessica Jones’ Season 2. Many claim that ‘Jessica Jones’ was the best of the Marvel/ Netflix shows to date and cannot wait to see what they have in store for the second season. Throw in the fact that we had to wait for another season of Jessica for so long (due to the craziness of Netflix having to get through ‘‘Daredevil’ Season 2, ‘Iron Fist,’ ‘Luke Cage‘ and ‘The Defenders‘) and you can understand why there is so much hype for the new season due out in March (check out the trailer below).

We have a new photo (above) that has Jessica back in action, on a road somewhere looking to be using her strength to either stop a large truck or tear it apart to save someone (ostensibly), so clearly she will be back in full hero mode. I cannot wait to see the full context of this scene. And now that we know that David Tennant‘s Kilgrave will be back in some form or other, it will be fun to see what other surprises the season has in store for us, and what else we will find out about our heroine.

Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg says Season 2 will delve more into Jessica’s backstory, which was hinted at during Season 1:

“We’re always digging deeper into Jessica’s character and this season we’re peeling back even more layers, revealing more about the experiences that have shaped her present-day life.”

Apparently, Krysten Ritter was so busy filming ‘The Defenders’ and ‘Jessica Jones’ Season 2 back to back that she missed out on some pop-culture during that time, as she explains:

“Just to give a stupid reference point, I finally heard Beyonce’s Lemonade this summer. I brought this boom box to the set, blasting ‘Formation’ and said, ‘have you guys heard this??’ And Rachael [Taylor, who plays Trish Walker] was like, ‘oh poor Krysten, she works so much she didn’t even know about Lemonade.'”

I suppose I never really thought about the time difficulties for Ritter with the production schedules for ‘The Defenders’ and ‘Jessica Jones’ Season 2 being so close together. It’s nice to know she was game, especially since she was clearly aware how many fans were waiting for both of those series and was capitalizing on her moment (it’s not every day you get to play a character that people seem to really love). Here’s hoping Season 2 of ‘Jessica Jones’ is everything we are hoping it can be, and that March will be here sooner rather than later.
