While we’re all pretty convinced that ‘Inhumans’ is either on the chopping block or getting a major revamp if it does live to a second season, it looks like ABC might have accidentally confirmed that the show is over. While you can still find it on ABC’s main page, the press page is a different story. Recently, all mention of ‘Inhumans’ were scrubbed off Disney and ABC’s press release website with no details as to why. This doesn’t bode well for a series we already thought was coming to an end.
While a press release itself wouldn’t be a surprising way to see this announcement, the complete deletion of all prior details of the series from an official press site is an interesting route.
While this wasn’t a surprise with IMAX stating that after this experience the theater would, “intend to take a more conservative approach consistent with the ‘Game of Thrones’ approach to capital investments and content.” ABC’s Channing Dungey would never go on the record one way or another about the series but did recently say that “it didn’t perform for us at the level that we would’ve wanted. We haven’t made any official decision yet about what we’re going to pick up in May, but I will say that the numbers, unfortunately, were less exciting for us than we hoped they would be.”
While the series never picked up steam the actors themselves didn’t seem to be the problem. Much like ‘Iron Fist’ the series was brought to us by Scott Buck which gave us shoddy special effects in some areas to poor writing, pacing, and direction for a cast which should do good on screen in others.
Unsurprisingly, a petition to “renew Marvel’s Inhumans for a second season (with a new showrunner!!)” has already gone live. If the show did move forward, which is unlikely, I think we can all hope that Scott is out and someone else takes the wheel.
Did you feel that ‘Inhumans’ still has an opportunity to win over audiences if a new showrunner was put in place? Is this just more hints at what we already suspect or will the show somehow live on into a second season? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
