We’re all still hoping for another outing with ‘Agent Carter’ and are daydreaming that it could happen on Disney’s streaming service if ABC hadn’t cancelled the show. But thanks to Peggy Carter herself, Hayley Atwell, we’ve learned what the third season could have been about! Fans have been thrilled with her work since ‘Captain America: The First Avenger,’ and with each inclusion of her character, it has only gotten better!
Sadly, ABC didn’t like the ratings enough to give us a third season of Atwell’s amazing work on the character. Recently, while in attendance at ACE Comic-Con. Atwell shared a bit about what might have been:
“Some people have said they want to see her founding S.H.I.E.L.D.”
And what about Agent Carter’s personal life?
“You’d have that aspect of it, she’s able to let go in some ways — of Cap — and move on to Sousa.”
As we know, she ends up married by the time Steve Rogers is no longer a Capsicle and she helped found the renowned spy agency so it is natural these are areas that fans would love to see explored. As to what more she would have wanted in the third season:
“She’s a great cause, and she takes action, so there’s so many things going on socially from the 50s to when she passes, that I think she’d have loved to be a part of. There are so many things so could have been a part of, and probably did do. It could probably fill another season, I’m sure. I hope.”
Interestingly enough, she had previously mentioned that a third season would increase her ties to the Jarvis family but that wasn’t brought up at all here.
The studio has never officially closed the door on the character, and we can always hold out hope that more of her story could be told on Disney’s streaming service. Giving us a solid ending to her story to transition her from ‘Agent Carter’ to where we see her later in life would be fantastic. Even if we got a shortened version of the story in a streaming-only movie I don’t think fans anywhere would complain.
Do you feel that Disney should bring back ‘Agent Carter’ for one more outing? Would you prefer to see the show on their upcoming streaming service or return to ABC? Which part of Peggy’s story do you feel needs to be shown to fans everywhere? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
