fear the walking dead

We’ve all known that Lennie James was moving from ‘The Walking Dead‘ to ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ and now the first photos have been released of him on set! It has never been clear if ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ was going to make a huge time jump in order for this to happen of if we’ll see a younger Morgan who somehow moved to Texas and back in between the events of the first and third season.

Sadly, the commentary that is shared by co-showrunner Andrew Chambliss doesn’t really elaborate on the situation either. We do know that he and Ian Goldberg took over the series after Dave Erickson departed at the end of the last season and a time jump is one way they could add their own unique twist to the series.

According to Chambliss:

“As Morgan Jones steps into the world of FTWD, he’ll be continuing the journey he began on The Walking Dead way back in the pilot. Ian and I were huge fans of the character when Lennie James first brought him to life back then, again when he returned in season 3, and finally when he became a series regular in Season 6.”

Now, is this “from the pilot” as in we see him head to where our other survivors are staying or is this growing out of him leaving ‘The Walking Dead’ having become fed up with how Rick and his fellow survivors are living? We don’t know.

Talking about James though, Chambliss shares how they all sat down to coordinate the character’s move from one show to another:

“When we first met Lennie, he impressed upon us how much he cared about the character and how important it was to him for us to take Morgan to places we hadn’t seen before. It’s been a great challenge to set for ourselves, and it’s what we hope to do with the character — to push Morgan to places he could only get by coming into contact with the characters on Fear. They’ll change him. And, at the same time, he’ll change them.”

Will he change things in a way because they aren’t “clear” for him quite yet or because he knows how Rick’s way of thinking can end up? Do you think we’re about to hit a time jump or will Morgan have moved to Texas for the upcoming season? Share your thoughts below!

Morgan returns to ‘The Walking Dead’ on February 25th, 2017 and ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ later this year!
