Lindsay Lohan made a name for herself as a child actor in such Disney classics as ‘The Parent Trap’, ‘Freaky Friday’ and ‘Herbie: Fully Loaded’, before breaking out big in the classic 2004 comedy ‘Mean Girls’.  Unfortunately, too much partying and off-screen scandals, including addiction problems, resulted in her never again starring in a major film.  In 2013, she starred in the low budget indie ‘The Canyons’ in hopes of rekindling her movie career, but it received only an extremely limited release, was critically trashed and flopped.  Even so, she has continued acting, often popping up on various television shows as herself and is joining the British sitcom ‘Sick Note’ with Rupert Grint, Nick Frost and Don Johnson for its upcoming second season.

But she has even loftier goals.  ‘The Canyons’ might not have reignited her career, but that hasn’t stopped Lohan from trying again and aiming even higher.  She wants the lead in ‘Batgirl’, the in-development DC Comics movie for Warner Brothers, which is being written by Joss Whedon, who plans to direct.  Lohan has taken to Twitter to lobby for the role:

Well… it’s nice to have dreams.

Anything can happen.  Online fan support for Donald Glover helped elevate his profile.  And while he didn’t land the role of Peter Parker in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, he did go on to voice Miles Morales on the animated ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ series and to play criminal Aaron Davis in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’— a role that he may reprise in upcoming films.

But at this point, Glover, at 34, is probably too old to play any version of ‘Spider-Man’ and the same can probably be said for the 32 year-old Lohan.  She’s really not “Any-GIRL” anymore.  Plus, she’s never done much in the way of action movies… or big budget films of any kind, with the possible exception of the gritty Robert Rodriguez exploitation-homage ‘Machete’.

Whedon has expressed interest in casting an unknown, which certainly doesn’t describe Lohan.  Unfortunately, she’s more known for her private life than her acting.  ‘Pitch Perfect’ star Hailee Steinfeld recently expressed interest in playing ‘Batgirl’, while online, fans have rallied behind Jane Levy, star of Hulu’s ‘There’s… Johnny!’ and horror hit ‘Get Out’.

Lohan may have had a shot at playing ‘Batgirl’ ten years ago, during her ‘Mean Girls’ heyday, but that time on top was short-lived as she soon eclipsed her work with her partying.  But what do you think?  Could Lohan possibly handle this super role?
