Valiant Comics has been teasing working on some live-action films for a while now though it seems a web series is the first thing that we’ll be seeing with ‘Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe’. Derek Theler (‘Baby Daddy’,’Project: SERA’) stars as X-O Manowar and the first full shot of this character can be seen below! With the actor also cast as Mister Immortal in Marvel’s ‘New Warriors‘ it seems that the actor is jumping into the realm of comic book adaptations in a big way!

The character was initially created by Jim Shooter, Steve Englehart, Bob Layton and Barry Windsor-Smith and is described as a “Visigoth warrior who was captured by aliens” who stole a suit of sentient armor and makes his way back to Earth. Great, he’s home! Only, thousands of years have passed and now he not only has to adapt to being in modern times but chooses the life of being a superhero as well.

You can check out the live-action take on the character in the tweet below which was shared by CEO & Chief Creative Officer at Valiant Entertainment Dinesh Shamdasani:

The new series is set to be directed by Aaron and Sean Schoenke (‘Super Power Beat Down’) and is a six-part series that pits Ninjak against many of Valiant’s most popular heroes.

Here is a snippet as to what to expect:

Colin King is Ninjak, MI-6’s deadliest intelligence operative and weapons expert. When the ruthless assassin Roku exploits his greatest weakness, Ninjak will be forced to betray his closest allies. Now, on the run, he must face off against the most powerful heroes known to man for a high-octane, take-no-prisoners trial by fire more perilous and more unpredictable than any he’s faced before. In 2017, the world’s most dangerous super-spy goes to war with the Valiant Universe…

Also starring in the series is Michael Rowe as Ninjak, Jason David Frank as Bloodshot, Alex Meglei as Archer, Kevin Porter as Armstrong, John Hennigan as Eternal Warrior, Ciera Foster as Livewire, Chantelle Barry as Roku, Damion Poitier as Shadowman, Tatiana DeKhtyar as Colonel Capshaw and Craig Robert Young as Neville Alcott. This is a fun set of characters who I suspect we’ll be getting a look at in the near future.

Are you excited to finally be getting to see some live-action Valiant characters even if it isn’t for the films quite yet? Do you think any of these actors will reprise their roles for the big screen adaptations or is this just for the web series? Share your thoughts below!
