Marvel’s ‘New Warriors’ still doesn’t have a home since it no longer will be joining ‘Cloak & Dagger’ on FreeForm but that doesn’t mean that production has slowed and we’ve got our first set photo from the series! This half-hour superhero comedy is going to try and be something that no one else has been able to pull off yet and having not found a network yet would be daunting for almost any studio out there though it is unlikely to phase Marvel. It should be noted that the last time anyone tried this approach, it was DC who bombed pretty hard with NBC’s ‘Powerless.’
Oh, and for the first look? It shows off the cast and crew though the actors are sadly not in superhero costumes quite yet. The image was initially shared by Derek Theler on Instagram which has since been pulled so you might want to make sure to enjoy this shot while you can!
In this image, you can see Derek Theler (Craig Hollis/Mister Immortal), showrunner Kevin Biegel, fan-favorite Milana Vayntrub (Doreen Green/Squirrel Girl), Jeremy Tardy (Dwayne Taylor/Night Thrasher), Calum Worthy (Robbie Baldwin/Speedball), Matthew Moy (Zach Smith/Microbe), and Kate Comer (Deborah Fields/Debrii).
The series is set to show a group of young heroes who are on the “opposite end of the spectrum of The Avengers” which is more of a connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe than Hulu’s ‘Runaways‘ have given us so far. You’d think at least one of the kids would have been stoked about real life superheroes prior to starting to uncover the truth about their super villain parents. Of course, maybe they’re waiting for the right time to drop a line asking if they aren’t worried that Iron Man will come and put them in jail.
