Fans have been wondering for some time now whether venerable (and deceased) Jedi Master Yoda would be making an appearance in ‘The Last Jedi,’ mainly due to to the fact that there were rumors that sets were being constructed to allow for a puppet to move around and Frank Oz (the voice of Yoda) was in London to supposedly record audio. Of course, there could be any number of explanations for either of those things, but new evidence suggests that Yoda may indeed be showing up in ‘The Last Jedi.’

The social media team for Digital Sputnick, a company that supplies lighting equipment for various productions, recently shared the theatrical trailer for a new movie they lent a hand for, the Biblical epic ‘Mary Magdalene’ on Facebook, and on the page they included a comment that potentially ruined the whole Yoda surprised for ‘Star Wars’ fans, claiming ‘We’ve just realized we have illuminated Jesus AND Yoda.” Check it out for yourself below:

The post has since been taken down, but it was up for 15 hours, which is kind of a long time for something with that big of a spoiler to stay up if folks at Disney/ Lucasfilm were really all that worried about it. But then again, it was taken down, so clearly someone had some kind of problem with what was said. Of course, it could also just be a mistake, as Digital Sputnik did work on ‘Rogue One’ and perhaps someone mistakenly thought Yoda was in that film and that was why the post was taken down, but that seems like kind of a long shot. And given the context of ‘The Last Jedi,’ with a shaken Luke doubting the Jedi and himself and asked to train another after failing with Ben Solo and watching him fall to the Dark Side, it would make sense for Yoda’s Force Ghost to make an appearance and give some much needed advice to his one-time apprentice. And since this is the second film in the trilogy, similar to ‘The Empire Strikes Back,’ it would be cool to see Yoda make an appearance as a kind of homage to his role in that film, especially since Luke looks to essentially be taking on Yoda’s role as the reluctant teacher in ‘The Last Jedi.’

We’ll find out next week when ‘The Last Jedi’ finally hits theaters!
