An American Werewolf in London

It seems like Max Landis is really planning on bringing back the nostalgia for fans of the original ‘American Werewolf in London‘ by bringing back some of the cast as cameos in the reboot. Max is in the process of rebooting the 80s classic by his father John Landis and has quite a bit to live up to as the first film was one of the best horror comedies which have graced the big screen. In fact, John himself advised Max against rebooting it which could potentially throw a wrench in the project.

While Max was recently promoting his BBC series ‘Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency’ at New York Comic-Con 2017, he was asked about the remake. Right off the bat, his response was to summarize the original iteration, and it seems like he won’t be changing the formula that worked so well for his father by that much. However, one new fun fact that came out was when he was asked about any of the original cast showing up in a cameo. His response will have some fans excited:

“Griffin Dunne… what about Jenny Agutter? Come on, Jenny’s killing it right now. She was in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It made me so excited! Yeah, there’s cameos from ideally literally everyone.”

While Landis didn’t confirm that any of the original actors mentioned would be showing up in the film, he is clearly open to and excited about the idea. That being said, he went on to say that he wasn’t working with his father on the project and that it wasn’t even confirmed to be filmed at this point:

“There’s no guarantee that movie will exist but I’m very excited about it. I’m not here to remake American Werewolf in London into something it isn’t, I want to do everything from the original movie modern, and that’s it. I mean, not Gus Van Sant’s Psycho. There will be my stuff in there, but if it exists I hope it’s good. I’m going to do my best to make it great.”

With all of the early buzz which has been surrounding the reboot, it seems like it isn’t entirely greenlit at this point. For one of the most iconic horror comedies of all time which many would agree doesn’t need a makeo, er this could be good news. Not quite a silver bullet to stop the movie from happening but it does mean that there isn’t a guaranteed full moon in the reboot’s future at this point.

Would you want to see cameos from the original cast if ‘American Werewolf in London’ does come to fruition? Do you think that the movie could use a facelift with modern technology or would remaking it be pointless? Share your thoughts below!
