Paul Bettany is keeping it in the Disney family.  After two turns as The Vision, in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and ‘Captain America: Civil War’, (and several more, providing the voice of JARVIS) Paul Bettany is scooting over to another Mouse House subsidiary, Lucasfilm LTD, to appear in ‘Han Solo: A Star Wars Story’.  This reunites Bettany with director Ron Howard, with whom he worked on ‘A Beautiful Mind’.

Howard made this casting announcement by posting a picture of the two of them on Twitter:

Bettany replied, saying “It’s a dream come true.”

Howard took over directing duties from Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, who were let go after those pesky creative differences.  Coincidentally, it appears that Bettany has been brought in to replace Michael K. Williams.  It’s unknown who this character is, but after Howard took the reigns, he required reshoots.  Williams stated recently that he wasn’t available for these, due to filming another movie ‘The Red Sea Diving Resort’ in Cape Town, South Africa.

Williams role was supposed to be rendered in CGI after he provided a motion capture performance.  But with ‘Han Solo’ due in theaters on May 24, 2018, it appears there isn’t time for that, so the character will remain the same, but will now be depicted as a human.  The “Outer Rim” is the rough, criminal-filled underworld of the Star Wars galaxy.  It was previously believed that Williams’ role was a half-animal criminal boss-type.

Bettany returns as The Vision in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ on May 4, 2018 with ‘Han Solo: A Star Wars Story’ following just weeks later.  ‘Infinity War’ is in post-production, while ‘Han Solo’ is clearly still filming.

How do you feel about Paul Bettany joining ‘Han Solo’?  Which movie are you more excited about, ‘Han Solo’ or ‘Avengers: Infinity War’?
