Warner Brothers Is Preparing For 'Invasion Of The Body Snatchers

The Pod People are getting ready to make a return as Warner Brothers is fully set to reboot the iconic ‘Invasion Of The Body Snatchers‘. I’m sure we’re all shocked to hear that a studio would be planning to reboot such a cult classic. John Davis is set to produce and David Leslie Johnson (‘Dungeons and Dragons’,’The Conjuring 2′) has been tapped to pen the script. This won’t be the first remake of the film which was recently released as a novel in 1954, a film in 1956, a reboot in 1978 which everyone still loves that starred Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, and Kevin McCarthy, in 1993 as ‘Body Snatchers’ and again in 2007 as ‘The Invasion’ with Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman.

Clearly, we need another iteration of it already with the 2007 release having flopped at the box office and with critics to the point where it wasn’t even a memorable failure.

The original premise is that the citizens of a small town are starting to change in how they’re acting towards their friends and family. It is almost unnoticeable at first but it is starting to look like an epidemic. Those investigating the changes discover that humans are being put into alien pods and something else that looks exactly like them are coming out. Those that emerge are exactly the same, short of a lack of human emotion and an attempt to stop the invasion is made.

While we don’t know who will be directing the film at this time, at the very least I will give the studio credit for tapping Johnson as he has more hits than misses under his belt. That being said, this is yet another iconic horror film being rebooted that might not need to be. Especially with how many iterations of the film have already graced the big screen.

Are you looking forward to a reboot to ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’? Do you feel that this one can succeed where the last two takes on this iconic property failed? Share your thoughts below!
