Lena Dunham truly made her name on the six-season run of HBO’s ‘Girls’ and now Ryan Murphy has announced that she’ll be joining the cast of the seventh season of FX’s ‘American Horror Story‘!

We’re still just shy of learning the subtitle of the upcoming season and don’t know much about it past that it will be related to last year’s election cycle, so each piece of new information has us guessing as to what to expect! Her role on the show, much like the plot of the upcoming season, is still a mystery. What we do know is that Murphy and Dunham have “always wanted to work together, and now we [are]!” so this could be an opportunity for her to get into horror that she has been eyeing for awhile!

At the very least, if her work on the show is successful it will go a long way on keeping her from becoming typecast.

Here is the tweet where Murphy made the announcement:

What is more fun than the news itself are the reactions to Murphy’s announcement on Twitter. Let’s just say that the tweets out there seem less than pleased at her joining the series.

With Dunham having a lot of free time on her hands now that ‘Girls’ is coming to an end, it seems at least one season of ‘American Horror Story’ will be filling her time. She’ll be joining a cast which already includes Colton Haynes, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Billie Lourd, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter, and Billy Eichner.
