Tony-Stark-and-Peter-Parker-Spider-Man-Homecoming

With only a few short weeks until audiences finally get to see ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming,’ Marvel, Sony and Disney are keen to keep interests high and let the promotional train continue to roll, and this week’s example is a new featurette for the film titled ‘Coolest Mentor Ever.’ In the featurette, Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland discuss the mentor/protege relationship between Tony Stark and Peter Parker in the film, and how it is one of the driving influences for Spider-Man in the MCU.

After his incredible debut in ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ all Peter Parker wants is to become an Avenger, but Tony Stark seems to want to make sure the young Parker is truly ready for that responsibility, especially after all that went wrong with his former teammates. As Downey Jr. says in the video:

“Tony’s kind of keeping a real close eye on him and making sure that he is a worthy recruit for the Avengers. He’s bright and gifted. And a very talented guy.”

“Peter Parker is constantly learning things throughout the movie. And he is trying to prove himself to Tony that he is ready to be an Avenger, he is old enough to take on bigger tasks.”

I cannot speak for all of the fans but I know I am immensely excited for this movie, and July 7th cannot get here soon enough. Do you think it will be a worthy addition to the MCU and finally set the cinematic Spider-Man franchise back on the right track? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
