Fans of Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower‘ have been itching to see what the cinematic take would look like and today marks the release of the first official trailer. This is our first look at Idris Elba as Roland the Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey walking around as The Man in Black. While they don’t share too much screen time each other here, we do get one line with Roland clearly being taunted by his foe.

At long last, the journey to ‘The Dark Tower’ begins and it does so in the first trailer which you can check out right here:

There are so many memorable lines from the novels while also adding an original twist in this first trailer. The fact that they included the “I do not kill with my gun. I kill with my heart” line is entirely fitting and will have fans a little giddy.

The teasers yesterday showed us that we were going to be getting some slowdown for action sequences involving Roland’s gun slinging abilities and while I was a little hesitant from that, I’m fully on board with the style after the trailer.

I just hope that it does begin with a semblance of the start to the first novel as anyone who remembers it will always fondly recall that “The Man in Black fled across the Desert, and the Gunslinger followed.”

Upon following the mystery, he is spirited away to Mid-World where he encounters the lone frontiersman knight Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), who is on a quest to reach the ‘Dark Tower’ that resides in End-World and reach the nexus point between time and space that he hopes will save Mid-World from extinction. But with various monsters and a vicious sorcerer named Walter Padick (Matthew McConaughey) hot on their trail, the unlikely duo find that their quest may be difficult to complete.

‘The Dark Tower’ will open its doors on August 4th, 2017.
