There are some voices in entertainment that are instantly recognizable. Michael Buffer will always be associated with the phrase, “Let’s get ready to rumble!” To many, Morgan Freeman is the voice of God, but it may also be Alan Rickman to fans of Kevin Smith’s ‘Dogma’. And James Earl Jones will forever be immortalized as the voice of one of the most feared villains in cinematic history, Darth Vader. With s0 many original cast members returning to a galaxy far, far away for ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’, will we see the actor return to the role? He recently touched on that subject in a new interview.

While speaking to Variety about a number of different roles from throughout his illustrious career, Jones revealed that he wouldn’t be providing the voice of the iconic ‘Star Wars’ villain in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming film or any of the spinoffs. Considering the Sith Lord’s fate at the end of ‘Return of the Jedi’, it’s hard to imagine that we’d be seeing Vader in any installments taking place after the original trilogy anyway, but in case you had your doubts, the actor basically puts those thoughts to rest:

“Oh no, I’ve got no illusions that I will or even hankerings to be in them, but I’m very proud to have been part of the original. I have no idea where they’ll go with it, but I hope they sustain the success of the first ones and do it well.”

Of course, there’s always the possibility of Vader’s visage appearing in the new movies somehow, but any appearance from the character would be likely be post-mortem. Plus, they’d probably just digitally insert Hayden Christensen’s likeness into a scene if they need to reference Anakin Skywalker or his dark side persona.

Despite the fact that his character is dead, are you disappointed that James Earl Jones has no plans of reprising his role as Darth Vader in any future ‘Star Wars’ projects? Do you think that he may change his mind if the character has some sort of role in the Disney XD animated series ‘Star Wars: Rebels’? Totes mcgotes let us know what you think in the comments below.
