While the first season of ‘Stranger Things‘ had a bit of an action vibe straight out of the 80s it looks like the second season plans on being more “horror orientated.” While there will clearly still be a slew of homages to other 80s films, it seems that the terror is going to be front and center in the upcoming season which might leave some of the Spielberg-esque science fiction premises behind. With the next installment dropping right before Halloween though and taking place during the haunting season, it does seem a rather fitting theme for the show. The returning cast which includes “Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas, and Noah Schnapp as Will” was recently interviewed for People Magazine which is where the detail and a few others came from!

While we don’t many many of the plot details as the show is still six months away, one thing we’ve learned is that the fallout from the first season will be explored. According to Matarazzo:

“The great thing about this season is you get to see insights into each character on their own. You’re going to see a lot more into the lives of how the characters are coping with what’s been going on.

I think they’re all very emotionally scarred. They feel alone because their best friend [Will] is back and he’s not acting like their best friend anymore. He’s changed.”

The end of the first season included a few hints at exactly how much Will has changed, and it will be interesting to see if the person who came back is even still their friend at all.

Wolfhard, though, is the one that shares things might be a little bit more terrifying this time around:

“There are going to be some challenges that the characters face that are real. That are disturbing.

I think this season will be a lot more dark. A lot more horror oriented. I think people are going to like it more than the first season.”

With Eleven still missing and The Upside Down having a foothold in the real world in both Will and that portal which last we heard was still open, there are plenty of opportunities for darkness to arrive and terrify our young survivors once more. Oh, and that isn’t even mentioning all of the new characters who will be arriving.

Are you looking forward to the second season of ‘Stranger Things’? Do you feel that the new horrors will come from our world or the Upside Down? Share your thoughts below!
