We’ve just learned that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘ cut a scene which would have been a combination of two deleted scenes from the original film. That’s right folks, the original ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ had an extended look at The Collector’s museum which was full of Easter Eggs as well as a sobering appearance by Grandpa Quill who was hoping his grandson might one day return. Now, it looks like a scene which would have combined these two didn’t make the final cut for the sequel either  .

To make the time limit that Marvel Studios required, 13 minutes had to be removed from the movie. According to director James Gunn:

“Unfortunately we had a sort of terrible cutting — one of our scenes we cut was with Grandpa Quill on Earth, and we had a lot of Easter Eggs in that scene. As much as we had in The Collector’s museum, probably more.

The original scene with Grandpa Quill was cut for being “too sad” after the emotional roller coaster which we had already gotten as he would have looked up at the stars in the hope of Peter’s return. It isn’t quite clear how he would have been in an Easter Egg sequence here, but there could have been plenty of opportunities to make references to cosmic occurrences which could have happened on Earth or other events that would have kept MCU and comic fans cheering.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing it show up anytime soon and likely not on the home release either.

Are you sad to hear that Grandpa Quill and Star-Lord will probably not meet again? Could they have one last moment with each other in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ when Quill returns to Earth? Share your thoughts below True Believers!

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2′ starring Chris Pratt, Zoë Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Kurt Russell, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, and Glenn Close takes off on May 5, 2017.
