Quite a few names have surfaced recently as to who would play Cable in ‘Deadpool 2‘ and beyond with Michael Shannon (‘Man of Steel’,’Midnight Special’) now leading the pack. We know that David Harbour (‘Stranger Things’) had recently been mentioned as well though Shannon seems poised to become the time traveling mutant who teams up with the Merc with the Mouth. This would make another star who has now traversed between the DC and Fox X-Men Cinematic Universe as we all know that Ryan Reynolds had once played ‘Green Lantern,’ much to his shame. David Leitch will have a lot on his plate trying to direct the follow-up to the original which had grossed $783 million worldwide and having a star like Shannon might make this a little easier
If selected, he’ll also be joining Zazie Beetz (‘Atlanta’) who was recently tapped to play Domino. Possibly his main concern in signing on would be that he is set to film ‘What They Had’ this spring with ‘Deadpool 2’ planning to be shot this summer in Vancouver.
For those unfamiliar with the character, Cable is the son of Cyclops and was sent into the future to be raised as the man who would bring about the end of Apocalypse. Due to his constant time traveling and prophetic visions he has been at the center of quite a few major mutant uprisings and helped to prevent the end of the world on multiple occasions. Not only that, but he was the founder of ‘X-Force’ which he often used quite viciously against enemies of mutant kind.
