legion-season-2With its quirky storytelling, it was unsure how FX’s ‘Legion‘ would resonate with fans, but it looks like this unique take on mutants is going to be around for quite some time. Well, at least a second season as the network has just greenlit it.

This renewal was honestly a no-brainer as “Legion is one of the most-watched new cable dramas of the past year” and it would be a bit foolish not to give us more. A total surprise hit, Dan Stevens has been able to capture the hearts and minds of viewers in his portrayal as David Haller. A series which you could only describe with the word “unique” will hopefully have a bright future ahead of it.

I’m sure that they’ve got a huge cliffhanger setup to end the first season with as well so that alone would have fans in a frenzy if we didn’t find out more. Thankfully, the ratings are in our favor!

According to President of Original Programming Eric Schrier:

“The first season of Legion was a stunning achievement. More than a new series, Legion is a wholly original take on the superhero genre. Our thanks to Noah Hawley for taking the creative risks and shattering expectations. It’s a privilege to work again with Noah, his producing partners, the outstanding cast and our partners at Marvel Television on another season of Legion.”

Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb added that:

“We are thrilled there will be a new season of LEGION. Noah’s spectacular take on David Haller and all the other characters he brought to life makes us ache for more. We’re particularly proud of our partners at FX and the success we share on our first TV series together.”

Showrunner Noah Hawley has long stated that ‘Legion’ needed to learn to walk before it could run so with a second season order and rave ratings one can only hope that they’ll take this time to connect the series to the great X-Men universe. If anything, maybe this will be an excuse to bring in Legion’s father as this is one of the two instances where Sir Patrick Stewart was willing to reprise his role as Professor Charles Xavier.
