guardians of the galaxy vol 2

Not that they particularly need to promote the movie all that much (does anyone really doubt that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ is going to have a fantastic opening weekend?), but still Disney and Marvel are continuing the PR train for the sequel to the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ with the latest being a clip released during Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards this past weekend.

Unfortunately, Disney pulled the clip from the internet before we had a chance to post it here, but luckily for us, my editor managed to find it anyway and you can check it out below! Basically the Guardians are fleeing what I think is a fleet of Sovereign craft (the Sovereign being a race from the comics who will be introduced in the new movie, they are the gold people seen in the trailer), and they are clearly outnumbered and outgunned, and Drax comments that someone would need to “be the best pilot in the universe” to pilot them through this, a title that both Star-Lord (Peter Quill) and Rocket Raccoon think clearly refers to themselves. And so it is Rocket versus Star-Lord in the clip in an argument over just who is the best pilot in the ship/ on the team, which of course happens during a tense moment with their lives on the line, which ends in threats of a “turd” in a pillow and Quill shaving Rocket in retaliation, while Gamora yells that they should focus on the life or death situation at hand. It’s a testament to the kind of movie ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ will most likely turn out to be, following in the footsteps of its predecessor, wherein even in the most dire circumstances the characters will still take time to quip and have ridiculous (and hilarious) arguments, especially when their egos are involved (no pun intended in this case).

It’s not all that surprising that Disney attempted to pull the clip down already as it was a fun scene from the movie, but they probably wanted to ensure they are not giving away too much of the film before it hits theaters, which is less than 2 months away, and I am ok with that line of thinking, as for the most part internet speculation has it that most of the film has been kept largely under wraps, with the trailers mainly showing scenes from the opening and first act of the film. Did you get to see the Star-Lord versus Rocket clip before it was taken down? What are your thoughts on the ‘Guardians’ sequel? Share your opinions in the comments below!
