Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma is going to be stepping up her game in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘ with a “killer” new weapon. I’m just going to hope that she gets some “killer” screentime as well with how little she was included in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’ We were all pretty thrilled to hear about her casting in the movie, but with the limited role she had and lack of making a significant impact on the film it felt like a waste of her talent. As we know she’s done sword trading for HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ it sounds like her talents might be getting put to good use this time around.

There is currently a rumor that Finn is going head to head with an “executioner stormtrooper” in the same style of his battle with TR-8R in the last film. This fight is likely where we’ll see her jump into the action as she’ll have a spear that “looks killer.” The sources that were sharing details described it not just as a spear but “a weapon, staff.”

On the flip side, we might not see it actively being used as it could be for ceremonial purposes. With Phasma’s limited interaction in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ it would appear that she is one that lives by the rules so if she had to carry something for decorative purposes she would begrudgingly do so.

I would say that her appearance in the recent sizzle reel would be worth getting your hopes up for more of her character but if we think back again to her heavy inclusion in the marketing for The Force Awakens than I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Do you think that Captain Phasma’s new weapon will be in a fight sequence akin to what we’ve seen in the past or is it just a plot to include it so the eventual action figure will have an accessory? Share your thoughts below!
