Fans who were unhappy to see leading lady Nina Dobrev leave ‘The Vampire Diaries‘ at the end of the sixth season will be happy to hear that The CW has her returning for the series finale. As the actress was never killed off and was just in a coma we knew that her return was always a possibility and thankfully it seems quite clear from a recent Instagram post that she’ll be back for the 16th episode of Season 8 titled “I Was Feeling Epic” as you can see right here:
Nearly a year back, Executive Producer, Caroline Dries stated that:
“I would say that, if The CW called today and was like, ‘By the way, Season 7 is the last season,’ then I think we would scramble to make sure that she was in the finale. But as of right now, we’re acting like the show will go on.”
It looks like they scrambled just to make that happen and Dobrev will be back for one last go. I’m hoping that her appearance isn’t just at the very end of the finale with a close up on her and her eyes pop open before it fades to black one last time.
Since leaving the series Dobrev has been pretty busy having taken a role a few movies including ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ and the soon to be filming ‘Flatliners‘ sequel.
Are you happy to hear that they plan on closing out her character’s story arc on ‘The Vampire Diaries’? How much of a send off do you think they can truly give her character in the last episode? Share your thoughts below!
‘The Vampire Diaries’ series finale will premiere on The CW on Friday, March 10th, 2017 at 8 pm ET
