Usually, it takes box office ratings for a sequel to be greenlit for a film these days but ‘Power Rangers’ already has a follow-up in the works, as a graphic novel. If you love the new take on ‘Power Rangers‘ then you won’t have to wait long to see more of their adventures as ‘Saban’s Power Rangers: Aftershock’ is set to be released by BOOM! Studios soon after.

It really is no surprise that BOOM! Studios are the publisher behind it as they are currently responsible for the two ongoing ‘Power Rangers’ titles that are in print, it should be noted though that they aren’t related to the upcoming movie. At 96 pages, this graphic novel will set you back $14.99, so if you want both covers which will be available it looks like you’ll need to have $30 on hand to cover it.

The graphic novel is set to be penned by Ryan Parrott (‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’,’Batman: Gates of Gotham’) and illustrated by Lucas Werneck. The story takes place directly after the events of the film so it sounds like Jason, Kimberly, Trini, Zack, and Billy will all be surviving their first outing as they are to appear in the graphic novel. Past that, we don’t know much more as the graphic novel is shrouded in nearly as much mystery as the film.

The one upside though is that we do get these new shots of their suits which look fantastic for a modern reimaging of the characters!

If you’re wondering how long it will take to get your hands on this graphic novel, it is due out on March 29th, 2017 so it’ll only be a week after the film hits the big screen. It sounds as if the name ‘Aftershock’ hints that we’ll be seeing how becoming Power Rangers has changed the lives of these newly minted heroes and it’ll be curious to see who they end up dealing with this new power on written page. ‘Power Rangers: Aftershock’ does has two cover options (which you can see above). One is based on the movie while the other is fully illustrated. The cinematic cover can only be ordered at bookstores while the illustrated one is available at comic shops so if there is one in specific, or you’re a collector who needs both, that is something to keep in mind.
