rogue-one

We have a lot to look forward to in Gareth Edwards‘ standalone Star Wars film ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘ and now we know that there is going to be a fun Easter Egg in the film. While the movie deals with regular folks who are tied directly into the creation of the Death Star and the delivery of its plans to The Rebel Alliance, it seems that the story won’t just be tying directly into ‘Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope’ but potentially in other facets of the Star Wars universe as well.

Specifically, there is a sequence in the film which will be full of Easter Eggs, including some non-Star Wars ones. When we get to the cave where Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera lives,a lot of attention went into the design of that set. We already know some classics like Darth Vader, Mon Mothma, and possibly even Grand Moff Tarkin will be showing up but for some subtle clues, we need to look to the cave.

While Edwards wasn’t including what might be there from the Star Wars universe he did say:

“There’s some Easter eggs. In Saw’s [Gerrera’s] cave, there are some cave paintings. One of them is of the creatures that were in my first film, called Monsters, and then there’s a Godzilla. I didn’t ask for it, I just came in one day and saw it.”

Yes, folks, Godzilla is going to be showing up in a ‘Star Wars’ film and I couldn’t be happier! Sure, it’ll probably be a super quick glance that will be hard to catch on the big screen but that still is hilarious, even more so since Edwards himself didn’t request them!

Are you looking forward to the Easter Eggs which may be sprinkled throughout ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’? Do you think we’ll see a few more non-Star Wars ones slipped in? Share your thoughts below!
