In the wake of the altogether unsurprising success of ‘Luke Cage’, it wasn’t long before the teases started coming for Marvel’s next Netflix series, ‘Iron Fist’. This included a wildly successful trailer at New York Comic Con last month. But of course, ‘Iron Fist’ isn’t the only Netflix series that Marvel has coming next year. There’s also ‘The Defenders’, which is set to bring the Netflix heroes together in the same way that ‘The Avengers’ did their big screen counterparts.
Today, Marvel confirmed on Twitter that Jessica Henwick (whose casting as Colleen Wing was confirmed back in April) would be among the characters to make the jump from ‘Iron Fist’ to ‘The Defenders’. In doing so, she joins a roster of supporting players that (so far) includes Rosario Dawson, Rachael Taylor, Deborah Ann Woll, and Elden Henson, among others.
In addition to that casting news, the tweet also included a brief clip from ‘Iron Fist’. Naturally, given the announcement to which it was attached, the clip in question offered a glimpse of Henwick in character as Colleen Wing. In the clip (we weren’t kidding when we said it was brief) we see Wing in what looks like some sort of cage fight. But not to worry, she has things well in hand. And by “things”, I mean “her opponent’s throat. It’s an impressive performance to say the least. We’ve included the tweet below so that you can check out the video for yourself:

‘Iron Fist’ brings Marvel’s martial arts mainstay to the screen for the first time, with a cast that includes Finn Jones, Jessica Henwick, David Wenham, Jessica Stroup, Tom Pelphrey, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Rosario Dawson.
The series is set to debut on Netflix on March 17, 2017, with ‘The Defenders’ following later in the year.
