We already know that the six seasons of ‘American Horror Story’ take place in the same universe. Things began to spill over in Season Four, ‘Freak Show’ when we learned the origin of Pepper, who first appeared in Season Two, ‘Asylum’. Also making an appearance from Season Two, was Dr. Arthur Arden, who we learned tortured and disfigured Elsa Mars.
Since then, things have begun to tie closer and closer together.
But executive producer Ryan Murphy just dropped a bomb: There’s going to be a full blown crossover season, combining characters from S1, ‘Murder House’ and S3, ‘Coven’!
“We do know what we’re going to do. It’s not going to be next season, but we are going to do a season that’s a crossover between Murder House and Coven together, which is very bizarre. There will be characters from Murder House and characters from Coven together.”
Note that Murphy stated that this crossover won’t happen next season. The reason is scheduling.
“I’ve [already] started going to actors from both of the seasons, quietly, saying, ‘I think in this window, if you could fit us in’. So yeah, it’s fun. It’s weird.”
There is already one potential connection. Some fans have speculated that the original owners of ‘Murder House’, Charles and Nora Montgomery (Matt Ross, Lily Rabe) are in some way related to Madison Montgomery (Emma Roberts) from ‘Coven’.
While the season may be based around S1 and S3, it’s entirely possible that characters or elements from other seasons could also pop up. For instance Lady Gaga’s Witch of the Woods in the present season of ‘Roanoke’, is the first Supreme, so she could connect to the ‘Coven’ half. And the word “Croatoan” was first introduced as a spell to get rid of ghosts in S1 and was invoked again on ‘Roanoke’.
Could this mean the return of some long absent cast members like Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott or Taissa Farmiga? Or even… dare we hope, Jessica Lange?
What would you like to see as part of this crossover?
