Toy News Tuesday: That’s A Spicy Meatball

Whether you knew you wanted it or not, we hope you’re ready for an all new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! This week the news is a little bit on the light side, but don’t fret because the few bits of news we have are all pretty fantastic! Lots of new stuff coming from Diamond Select Toys, plus some new products from Funko and some of the biggest news of the year from Hasbro! Ready To Get Hooked Again?

The movie is still over half a year away, but with the recent teasers hitting last week it’s really easy to get everyone all excited about ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’! Our friends at Diamond Select Toys have taken the chance to officially announce their new wave of ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’ themed Minimates! This upcoming wave, which is Wave 71 of their long running Marvel Minimates line, will include many of your favorite ‘Guardians’ characters, as well as some newcomers to the series! This wave is currently made up of four figure two-packs that include Starlord with Yondu, Gamora with Rock & Tiny Groot, Ego with Ayesha, and Taserface with Mantis! The latter two two-packs are going to be comic shop and specialty store exclusive; which leaves us guessing (and hoping really) that Drax and Nebula (who are the only missing returning characters) will be available at Toys R Us if they make it into the wave at all. These are due out next April!

Double Dose Of Deadpool

Diamond Select Toys is at it again with two times the pleasure for fans of your favorite Merc With A Mouth, Deadpool! This week Diamond Select Toys has released not one, but two new awesome Deadpool products to help satiate your hunger for some of that sweet DP action! Check out their new Deadpool Deluxe Glue Together Model Kit and the new Marvel Gallery Deadpol PVC figure! Both are in stores this week!

Marvel Deadpool Deluxe Glue Model Kit

A Diamond Select Toys release! It’s time to make your own Merc, with the first official do-it-yourself model kit of Deadpool! Standing approximately 8 inches tall, this detailed sculpture of Deadpool depicts him standing on a battlefield littered with unexploded bombs, and includes an alternate head so you can display him masked or unmasked. More Vinimates Coming In Fast!

Over the last few years, stylized vinyl figures have taken the market by storm! Diamond Select Toys recently launched their own vinyl figure line dubbed ‘Vinimates’, which are 3″ vinyl figures in action poses that are made in teh style if Diamond Select Toys long running Minimates line! Hasbro Launching Their Own Annual Convention

It was only a matter of time we suppose, but Hasbro has officially announced plans to launch their very own three day convention next year! The first ever ‘Hascon’ will take place in September 2017 from September 8th, through 10th at the Providence, Rhode Island Convention Center! The convention is the first of its kind and will bring fans and families alike together to celebrate some of Hasbro’s top brands like ‘Transformers’, ‘G.I. Joe’, ‘My Little Pony’, ‘Magic The Gathering’, and more! The event will feature “live interactive experiences, exclusive products, talent appearances, panels and much more” to keep people busy during the three day event!
