With the variety of trailers, TV spots and teasers that have been released by now, it feels safe to say that we have about as much ‘Rogue One’ footage as we’re likely to get prior to the film’s release in December. With all that footage in hand, it now falls to the fans to pick it all apart and piece together whatever they can about the film. In that spirit, the fine folks at GameSpot have assembled a supercut trailer, taking all of the ‘Rogue One’ footage released to date and assembling it in their best-guess approximation of the order in which it will appear in the finished film.
Some readers may recall a similar supercut trailer surfacing in advance of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ a few years ago. Among other things, that supercut made it clear that Sony had given away a great deal of the film’s plot in the course of the marketing process. Of course, it’ll be another two months before we can say with any certainty whether or not Disney has made a similar misstep in its marketing of ‘Rogue One’, but just to be safe the more spoiler-averse among you may wish to proceed as though it contains significant spoilers for the film. For the rest of you, the ‘Rogue One’ supercut trailer can be seen here:
Directed by Gareth Edwards, the events of ‘Rogue One’ take place shortly before the original 1977 film, following a group of Rebel spies who find themselves tasked with stealing the plans to the Death Star and delivering them to the Alliance.
‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ will arrive in theaters on December 16, 2016, almost exactly one year after the release of ‘The Force Awakens’. The film stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed, Mads Mikkelsen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, and Alan Tudyk.
