After a load roaring cheer, the main stage room grew quiet during Marvel Entertainment’s Netflix Panel this weekend at New York’s Javits Center for New York Comic Con 2016. Producer Jeph Loeb had just introduced the world to the first teaser trailer for Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’, which was met with much praise from an already excited audience. After a moment or two, the lights had still not come back on as the crowd went silent. Loeb looked around, almost confused, speaking into the microphone to ask the technical crew “hey guys, what’s up with the lights? Can we get these back on?”. That was when a familiar voice rang out over the loud speaker.

“One Batch, Two Batch, A Penny And A Dime…” the voice echoed, causing the room to explode with a new sense of excitement as actor Jon Bernthal, who most will immediately recognize from his role as ‘The Punisher’ on Season 2 of Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ earlier this year, walked onto the stage to join Loeb. Together they announced that as of this past Monday, filming had begun on Marvel’s new ‘The Punisher’ series! The series has now officially been announced and confirmed as coming exclusively to Netflix alongside the current roster of Marvel live action series.

Moments after taking the stage, Jon announced that his titular antihero wouldn’t be coming to his new series on his own, and that he would be bringing an old friend along in the form of his ‘Daredevil’ co-star Deborah Ann Woll! To no one’s surprise, Woll will be reprising her role as Karen Page from the first Marvel Netflix series, ‘Daredevil’.

Beyond the fact that the show is actually happening and that Frank Castle will be joined by Karen Page, the details on this series are still very scarce! We don’t know who The Punisher is going to be up against yet, and we don’t know what other familiar faces (if any) will be popping up. We do know that we can expect to see Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’ hitting the small screen exclusively on Netflix next year!
