It’s no secret that this generation loves nostalgia. New seasons of shows such as ‘The X-Files’, ‘The Gilmore Girls’, and ‘Twin Peaks’ or sequel series like ‘Fuller House’ and ‘Girl Meets World’ have definitely found an audience in today’s pop culture landscape. Next month, after already announcing plans to revive a number of their classic cartoons, Nickelodeon will continue to get in on the action with a TV movie based on the popular game show ‘Legends of the Hidden Temple‘. And on the first day of New York Comic Con this year, the network debuted a brand new trailer for the film.

Last seen in 1995, the classic Nick show saw six teams of two compete by performing physical stunts and answering questions based on history, mythology, and geography in order to retrieve lost treasures/historical artifacts from a mysterious temple protected by Mayan guards. The new movie directed by Joe Menendez of ‘From Dusk Til Dawn: The Series’ will feature many aspects of the original show, except reimagined to fit an all-new narrative starring newcomers and a few old favorites. That’s why 90s kids will recognize host Kirk Fogg, the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, and a few of the obstacles from the game show in this new trailer. You can check it below, followed by the official synopsis:

The ‘Legends of the Hidden Temple’ TV movie follows three siblings who break away from a lackluster tour in a jungle, finding themselves immersed in a high-stakes adventure comprised of obstacles that they must complete in order to escape alive. The TV movie will feature many elements from the original game show including: Olmec, a talking head who greets cast members Noah, Sadie, and Dudley, and launches them on the adventure of a lifetime; The Steps of Knowledge, the entrance to the temple and launching pad for the mission; and appearances from a green monkey, red jaguar, and silver snakes, among others.

Are you excited about the ‘Legends of the Hidden Templs’ movie? How does it feel to see Kirk Fogg and hear Dee Bradley Baker return to these iconic roles? And don’t you still think it’s crazy that so many kids couldn’t put together the Shrine of the Silver Monkey? Let us know in the comments!

‘Legends of the Hidden Temple’ starring Isabela Moner, Colin Critchley, Jet Jurgensmeyer, Kirk Fogg, and Dee Bradley Baker as the voice of Olmec premieres on Nickelodeon at 8:00pm on November 26, 2016.
