If you though the mystery around ‘American Horror Story: Roanoke‘ was a fun little diversion then you’ll be in for a treat as series creator Ryan Murphy has something even bigger in store for us. It won’t be just a secret of what he’ll be doing but a completely “secret season” of ‘American Horror Story‘ that he has in the works.

In a recent interview Murphy stated:

“It’s my secret season. I’ve been working with a writer on a season that only he and I know. It’s like a two-year project that we’ll continue to work on the sly and not tell anybody.”

Murphy has always been secretive about ‘American Horror Story’ not givingd away much about an upcoming season until about a month before its premiere. For the sixth season, he even used misdirection up until the first episode aired to keep things quiet. So it should be no surprise that he has a full “secret season” in the works but what that could mean could go in any direction. Will he have a season where the actors are unaware what they’re filming until it is all spliced together? A season that won’t be released as ‘American Horror Story’ but something else entirely until it’s revealed to be part of it at the end? Will this separate season be running at the same time or as webisodes which can be found online?

Honestly, the possibilities are endless and knowing Murphy, he’ll be happy to keep us guessing for years to come, at least two years if his comments on this secret season are any indication.

I also can’t help but wonder if this secret season will be a stand alone one or part of the greater ‘American Horror Story’ timeline which has been established to date.

Are you looking forward to whatever Ryan Murphy has in store for the future of ‘American Horror Story’? What do you think he means by a “secret season”? Share your thoughts below!
