the-lost-boys-1-coverIf you’ve always wanted more of ‘The Lost Boys‘ than you’ll be happy to see that Vertigo is releasing a new miniseries with Warner Brothers Consumer Products that is a follow-up to the cult classic 1987 film. The book is being written by Tim Seeley (‘Grayson’,’Nightwing’) with Scott Godlewski (Dark & Bloody’,’Copperhead’) and Patricia Mulvihill (‘Dark & Bloody’,’Hellblazer’) on the artwork. The previews below includes 3 pages from the first issue to enjoy.

Sadly, like most comics these days these preview pages are visual only without text having been added quite yet so we can’t get the best feeling of how the writing is from here. That being said, from what Seeley says below I’ve got huge hopes that this is going to be a fun run.

The book is set to follow the survivors from the film and be a monthly miniseries and “The stakes are high in this nostalgic and unstoppable sequel to the ’80s cult classic vampire film.”

The style is very reminiscent of the film itself. Which is good as Seeley states:

I saw The Lost Boys at a formative time in my life, when a VHS, a VCR and a summer afternoon were a perfect escape into a crazy world of biker vampires with mullets and monster-fighting hippy grandpas. The Lost Boys was one of my entry points into the horror genre, and I’ve been fascinated ever since. Getting the chance to write a sequel to the film, featuring the original characters, and getting to work with Scott, Patricia and Tony is truly a high point in my comic book-making career.

Thankfully he has a set of artists who can match his vision. Godlewski chimes in about his style by saying that:

I hadn’t revisited the film until after becoming involved with this project and totally understood the fascination and the reason for the devoted cult following. My artistic approach to the series is all about keeping the lighter moments light so that when the blood and guts show up they hit you like a hammer.

This is a book that looks like any fans of the original classic would be thrilled to check out.
