Marvel’s Joe Quesada unveiled the first trailer for FX’s ‘Legion’— a new series inspired by the ‘X-Men’ comic universe– at SDCC this summer.  Now with the show getting closer to its debut in early 2017, FX has released two new clips that should give you an even better idea of what to expect from this series.

LEGION - Pictured: Dan Stevens as David Haller. CR: Chris Large/FXThe first trailer was visually stunning and pretty action-packed and dramatic with elements of irreverence.  No surprise, considering the show was created by Noah Hawley, who also wrote and directed the pilot episode.  Hawley is the mind behind FX’s acclaimed series ‘Fargo’ which perfectly balances dark violence and absurd humor.  Also on board as executive producers are the team behind the ‘X-Men’ movies Simon Kinberg, Bryan Singer and Lauren Shuler Donner.

After initial reports that ‘Legion’ would not be part of the film universe, Singer recently stated that it would in fact be connected “to future X-Men movies.”

The show stars ‘Downton Abbey”s Dan Stevens as David Haller, a young man who has spent his life in mental hospitals due to the unexplained phenomena that occur in his head and possibly in the world around him.  Also starring are ‘Parks & Rec”s Aubrey Plaza, playing a role that seems written especially for her, along with Rachel Keller, Katie Asleton, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, Bill Irwin and ‘Fargo’ alum Jean Smart.

Check out the two new clips below:

Legion follows David Haller, a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and visions might be real. Legion debuts in early 2017 and is produced by FX Productions and Marvel Television.
