Stan Lee has been pretty busy as of late having already filmed his next 3 cameos for Marvel’s Cinematic Universe and we know which films that he’ll be in! He was recently on the television show ‘Breakfast Television’ for an interview during Fan Expo Canada in Toronto and let everyone know that he had the scenes in the can. With Lee easing up on convention appearances due to age it would make sense going forward for Marvel Studios to have multiple shots filmed at once instead of trying to get him to travel to each shoot individually.
So what can we expect him in? Next up we’ll be seeing The Man pop up in ‘Doctor Strange‘, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘, and ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming‘! Personally, I can’t wait to see what he does with the wallcrawler though classically he’s been a hot dog vendor when the webhead is concerned so that wouldn’t surprise me to see him slinging dogs on the big screen.
He wouldn’t go into detail on how long each of his cameos would be but it wouldn’t surprise me if they were cut a bit short and Stan agrees:
“Oh no no, they decide. If I was deciding it would be a half hour role. They only give me a few seconds, and they’re afraid, you know, I’ll overshadow the star. You know how that is.”
Clearly, Lee outperforming Marvel’s finest is a clear concern so I could see them trying to not overdo it. As much as he’s been enjoying cameos in films of some of the characters he helped bring to life, Lee isn’t limiting himself to just Marvel films. He’s previously stated that he’d be happy to help DC get some of their ratings up by making an appearance and has once again chimed in on that regard with:
“I want to do more cameos also, I’ve even let people know it doesn’t have to be a Marvel movie, I don’t know why DC hasn’t called me. They could use me!”
While I could see Warner Brothers and DC not wanting to use one of the founding fathers of their nemesis, something is needed to get them out of the negative press they are getting from fans and critics alike.
With ‘Thor: Ragnarok‘ being worked on right now and ‘Black Panther’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’, and ‘Captain Marvel’ all going into production shortly after it wouldn’t be too surprising if they worked some green screen magic to get him involved in these films sooner than later. At 93 years old it might soon become a bit too much too extensively travel to sets for filming.
