daenerys

Between the final two seasons being shortened and a delayed production schedule, there has been a lot to complain about lately when it comes to ‘Game of Thrones‘ but fans of the novels will be thrilled at a location that Daenerys is rumored to be visiting when she lands in Westeros. The location in question is The Dragonpit and while not outright spoken about aside from a single instance of the series, it holds great importance to anyone who has been reading the novels.

The rumor could be a potential spoiler so you may want to turn back now!

The rumor has it that when Daenerys crosses the Narrow Sea with her army that one of the stops we’ll see her at is King’s Landing and the Dragonpit by it. The Dragonpit itself stands on a hill over the city and is where the Targaryens housed their dragons over the years. Only, as we’ve learned from Viserys in Season One when explaining it to his sister, that dragons in captivity seem to get smaller and deformed over time.

The Dragonpit itself now is a ruin from various wars across the land with a collapsed dome roof scarred by dragon fire and wildfire which has never been taken down. It is hard to imagine that Daenerys would want to house her dragons here so it would be interesting to see why she visits. Is there a family secret to the area that she tries to uncover or does she want to use the vantage point to lead an attack on the city or view her newly captured territory? Obviously, it is too early to guess but we can absolutely speculate away!

Are you looking forward to seeing the remains of the Dragonpit when ‘Game of Thrones’ returns? Why do you think she’ll be visiting it? Share your thoughts below!
