There are a ton of theories floating around for ‘Transformers: The Last Knight‘ but as shooting begins in the United Kingdom it seems one major one just may be true. Director Michael Bay hasn’t been too keen on sharing details of what to expect in his next giant robot blockbuster but this change of location seems to hint something major.
First, Bay sharing that they are doing filming in Scotland for the film:
So why is being in the UK important one might ask?
Rumored reports have Optimus Prime having returned to Cybertron as was hinted at the end of ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction‘ and when he is back on his homeworld he finds it in ruins. In fact, it may be his own fault and the one thing that he needs to save his planet is back on Earth. Specifically, it is an ancient artifact that landed in the UK in the of Arthurian legends and is what gave Merlin his power.
The idea may be far fetched but so is a bunch of giant sentient robots having traveled across the Universe to save Earth.
This is in no way a confirmation that we’ve learned that it will be the plot for ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ but it could very well hint that it is the problem. Especially as the BBC has released some set photos of actors on horseback in medieval fashion. I suspect that we’ll be getting a flashback of the Transformers on Earth in the past, but one has to wonder what they may have transformed into at the time.
