Even though principal photography wrapped on Rian Johnson’s ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII‘ in July we haven’t had a lot of details on the film though may have just learned what actress Kelly Marie Tran (‘About a Boy’,’Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street’) will be up to in the movie. Like Laura Dern and Benicio del Toro, we don’t know much about Tran’s character though a new report on a scene from the film may have given us some major hints.
As always, this could be considered spoiler territory or just end up as a rumor but if you want to go in wide eyed and bushy tailed now is the time to head back!
In the scene, Tran is playing a new character named Aya who is described as an “information broker.” She ends up selling intelligence to the highest bidder and has worked with both the First Order and the Resistance in the past. Aya and Finn are having a conversation at a bar, probably with Finn trying to procure some sort of data, when Stormtroopers burst in and attack Finn before Aya helps him escape.
It’s probably bad business to attack this broker in the middle of a transaction.
While the description of the scene doesn’t seem to say much for long term inclusion of the character, Boyega has described her as a “new lead” in the franchise and the fact that she helps the Resistance in a fight against the First Order will most likely force her hand on choosing a side in the upcoming war.
Obviously, at this time we have no idea if the scene description or even the direction of the character are at all accurate.
Are you looking forward to Kelly Marie Tran bringing a fresh face to ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’? If the scene’s description is accurate will she be sympathetic to the Rebellion or angry with them for forcing her hand? Share your thoughts below!
‘Star Wars: Episode VIII′ will be released in a theater not in a galaxy far far away on December 15th, 2017.
