kong: skull island

Straight from the hallowed Halls of San Diego Comic Con, Warner Brothers has released the first trailer for next year’s ‘Kong: Skull Island.’ Set in the 1970s and taking the action directly to the home of the beast himself (probably no Empire State Building shots in this film), this looks to be an incredibly amped-up return to the giant-animal genre, and is a film that WB hopes will prove to be a major stepping stone into their ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ movie.  A prequel story for the film has already started to appear, by way of a six-issue mini-seires from Boom! Comics – click here to read our review of the fist issue!

Starring such Hollywood heavy-hitters as Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, and Samuel L. Jackson, ‘Kong: Skull Island’ hits American theaters on March 10, 2017.  Check out the trailer and official synopsis below!

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ “Kong: Skull Island” reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.
