spiderman in harnessWell ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming‘ is clearly in production right now down in Atlanta, as the public has spotted Marvel’s number one hero in action while shooting scenes, and has begun to post photos and videos of him on social media. This week they caught what promises to be an amusing scene with the wall-crawler where he swings down onto the street, looks up at some menace in the skies (most likely the Vulture, as he is rumored to be the villain of the film), and then steals a bike from a man nearby and cycles away from the danger. You can check out the social media photos at the following link, and then check out the video of the scene posted to Twitter below:

Scenes like this definitely seem promising for the film, which has a lot riding on its shoulders as it is the first ‘Spider-Man’ film set in the MCU, and both the studio execs and the fans are looking for it to be markedly better than ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ which underperformed with both critics and at the box-office. But after Tom Holland’s successful introduction of the character in ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ the future looks bright for Spider-Man, and even a lighthearted scene with him stealing  a bike like the above seems like a breath of fresh air after all the gloom and doom of Spidey’s last foray onto the big screen, which was mired in death, break-ups, and angst.

Don’t get me wrong, I am very aware that Spider-Man has always been  a down-on-his-luck hero, but Tom Holland seems to have grasped the character much better than his predecessors, as Peter Parker in the comics may have been having bad days, but he was still always witty, always ready to crack a joke and keep things light, especially while in costume, a trait that neither Tobey McGuire nor Andrew Garfield ever seemed to find a way to make work.
