War… what is it good for? Well, maybe ratings. War is coming to ‘Game of Thrones’ and its the “Battle of the Bastards” which is the name of the next episode, which airs this Sunday. The highly-scrutinized show has had to put a tight lid on upcoming events, to the point that HBO has not released a synopsis. (Nor will it for the following week’s episode which will serve as this season’s finale– already?!) This is the second to last episode of this season, so expect big things.
On one side, we have heartthrob Jon Snow (Kit Harington), who recently came back from the dead and is now rallying an army to take back his homeland. At his side is his half-sister Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner). Opposing their new army is Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon), Sansa’s estranged husband.
Though there is no synopsis available, HBO did release a batch of photos to tease fans. “Battle of the Bastards” looks massive and epic as is expected with ‘GoT’. There’s even a glimpse of Tormund the giant (Kristofer Hivju).
Check out the new photos below:
This episode was penned by ‘GoT’ showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who helmed last season’s episode “Hardhome” which also featured a major battle sequence; that time between the White Walkers and the Night King.
Once again, this is the second to last episode of this season. The episode that airs on June 26, “The Winds of Winter” will be a super-sized 90 minute installment. (You may recognize the name as the next novel in the ‘Song of Ice and Fire’ series by George R.R. Martin, which may be published about ten years after I die.) Sapochnik returns to direct that episode.
How do you feel about this season of ‘Game of Thrones’? Are you ready for some all-out war?
