20th Century Fox’s ‘The Martian’ will be releasing an Extended Edition on Digital HD, DVD, Blu-ray, and Ultra HD Blu-ray on Tuesday, June 7th and we have an exclusive clip from one of their bonus features to share with you today!
‘The Martian Extended Edition’ will contain 10 minutes of new footage that was not shown in theaters as well as more than two hours of behind the scenes content including an audio commentary by Ridley Scott (Director), Drew Goddard (Writer, Exec Producer) and Andy Weir (Author of ‘The Martian’ novel), deleted scenes, a documentary titled ‘The Long Way Home: Making the Martian’ which talks about the science behind recreating Mars for the film, as well as interviews and a panel discussion about NASA’s planned journey to Mars.
To give you a taste of what one of those bonus features contains, here’s a short clip from ‘Dare Mighty Things: NASA’s Journey to Mars’ which discusses the use of the Radiation Assessment Detector that was attached to the Mars Curiosity which helped prove that a human mission from Earth to Mars is actually quite feasible (start packing those potatoes!):
‘The Martian’ proves that science in movies is not tedious nor unexciting and that a movie that is not based on a superhero, a sequel, or a reboot can actually make it big at the box office. On June 7, make sure you “Bring Him Home” and pick up ‘The Martian Extended Edition’!
