batman 66 animated

Big news for fans of ‘Batman ’66,’ according to a recent announcement made by Adam West at Megacon 2016, it seems that he and Burt Ward are joining forces once again for a project involving Batman and Robin. He did not offer much information however, claiming:

“Well, I have a gag order…However… No no, me and Burt have been working on a new project that’s just gonna knock your socks off, and believe me, it’s our Batman and Robin!”

The good news is, fans already have some idea as to what the elder actor might be alluding to. While no one is expecting the two men to jump back into their tights at this point, there was rumor last year about West and Ward lending their voices to a 90 minute animated project, which would be based on their Batman and Robin world and starring themselves as the titular characters. While an animated version of the 60’s show would not quite be the same, it will be fun to revisit that world and hear Ward and West voice their iconic versions of Batman and Robin once more, not to mention the potential voice-casting of the villains that the heroes would be facing during the course of the film. The versions of the Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, and the Riddler seen in that show were certainly my first introductions to the Batman mythos, and it would be fun to see them back in action once more.

What are your thoughts on revisiting the 45-year-old TV series in animated movie form? Do you think they will manage to write in the Bat Shark repellent for nostalgia’s sake?  Do you think Ward will still be able to voice a young Robin, or will he be animated a little older?
